Happy Saint Valentine’s Day to all of you! This is the time of year when we all write messages of love and affection to our family and friends. As Christians, however, every day is a day to demonstrate that love to others. “Others” means rich or poor, young or old, healthy or ill, Christian or non-Christian. We are all One Catholic Ohana in the love of Christ.
Demolition is almost complete. Things always take a little bit longer than expected. I want to thank you for your patience during this time. We grow so accustomed to our routines and it is difficult to change. Everyone helped to make things work for the parish. Things should be back to normal for awhile.
The remains of Father Joachim Marechal have been found. They will remain safe until they are interred again in the new Church.
Today, we send the following Catechumens to the Rite of Election: Vale and Rebecca Wilson and their sons, Talon and Aden; Roxanne Llanes; ShaLee Takiki; Arorra Calvert; Orion and Luke Friels. Their godparents will accompany them. The Rite of Election will be held on Saturday, January 20th at 12noon at Annunciation Church in Waimea. Please pray for them in their final days of preparation for receiving the Sacraments of Initiation which are Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent.
Read the schedule of Masses and other liturgical functions during Lent. Everything is outlined in the bulletin. On Ash Wednesday, there will be three Masses at St. Michael’s, and one at Immaculate Conception. Plan to join us for Stations of the Cross and a light meal on Friday evenings during Lent.
The work at St. Paul’s continues. We will give you updates about the availability of the Pavilion for functions. Have a wonderful week. —Fr. Lio
