This is the perfect time of year to help. For the next two Sundays (Dec. 20 and Dec. 27) you can bring your contributions.
Each year, parishioners ask us what they can do for those in need at Christmas. This year, through our One ‘Ohana Generations of Faith, we have a number of suggestions. Our 2nd-Year Confirmation students, with their families, are organizing a project to assist homeless families who are moving into permanent housing. Imagine what it is like moving into an apartment and having nothing to start your new life. Most of us would go to the store and buy what we need. If you have no money, you can’t do that.
We are preparing laundry baskets with all the practical items an individual or a family would need to begin living in a new setting. Items needed are the following: shampoo, conditioner, new bath towels, toothpaste, toothbrushes, razor and razor blades, soap or shower gel, laundry soap, sponges, dish towels, plates, cups, flatware, etc. This is the perfect time of year to help.
For the next two Sundays (Dec. 20th and 27th) you can bring your contributions. There will be a clothes basket at the front and rear entrances to the tent at each Mass. Place your items in the basket. If you want to donate a clothes basket, that is good too! We will need a basket for each family. The Friendly Place gives housing to approximately three families a month.
In advance, thank you. Your help will mean so much to a family that has little.
