Graduation Address - In this season of graduations, we have an ancient model for brilliant graduation address. Moses exhorts the people of Israel to take the words of God—the commandments—to heart and make an earnest effort to pass them on to succeeding generations. This message applies to us as well. Superficial knowledge of the Lord’s words will not do. To say over and over “Lord, Lord!” or “Yes, Lord!” while doing nothing is all too common, even today.
And Paul does not contradict Moses when he says that we are justified by faith apart form observance of the law. If we have faith in the Lord, then we love the Lord. Out of that love we will want to know God’s will and act in accord with God’s every word. Jesus’ great love for us brings justification entirely out of proportion to the sins of those who have faith in the Lord and try to keep God’s word. Copyright, J.S. Paluch Co.
