Christmas decorations are being carefully packed away until next year. New Year’s resolutions have been made and greetings have been exchanged. We are already one week into what promises to be a memorable year for St. Michael’s. Yes, there will be the challenges associated with construction, but more important is the promise of a new worship space.
There is no question this will be another busy year, but that also has its positive aspects. There will be multiple opportunities to build our Church as a solid community of Faith. As your pastor, I am grateful for your participation in ministry. Whatever you do to help, whether it is changing a light bulb, painting, taking the Eucharist to the sick, or singing in the choir, it is ministry done to build our Church, the Body of Christ.
The parish is grateful to Father Rufino Gepiga for the time he spent with us. Father came to Kona in September to visit friends. He was between assignments and he offered to help us out until Father Anthony Rapozo’s ordination. Father left Kona on January 6th and he will take another assignment in the Diocese.
On December 30th, Father Anthony Rapozo was ordained for the Diocese of Honolulu. His first assignment as a priest is to St. Michael’s. Father is a native of Kaua’i where his parents still live. Father will arrive on Friday, January 13th. Please welcome him warmly.
Thank you for all that you do and all that you are. You have shown tremendous generosity with your time, talent, and treasure as we continue to work our way through the challenges the past five years have presented. There is truly a light at the end of this tunnel and I am confident that we will see it together with the help of God.
Peace in Christ,
