Our period of preparation continues. These are days to let go of fear and disappointment so that our spirits may be filled with compassion and grace. Let forgiveness and reconciliation be the gifts we offer to others this Christmas.
Thursday, December 8th is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. On this Holy Day, we celebrate her purity of heart and freedom from all sin from the moment of her conception. Our image of the Immaculate Conception is Mary’s figure in our grotto at St. Michael’s. When Mary appeared to Bernadette in Lourdes, she told Bernadette, “I am the Immaculate Conception.” All Catholics are obliged to attend Mass on this day. Please see the Mass schedule for times and places.
Thank you for helping to support our efforts to implement the translation of the Third Edition of the Roman Missal. As time goes on, we will adjust so that it comes out very smoothly. Please have special patience with us priests. For us, it requires rewording the prayers we have said for years.
Some of you may wonder why we are not singing the Hawaiian Mass at 7AM. Rest assured that we have not abandoned it. Some of the wording has changed and we are awaiting Bishop Larry’s approval of the text. Hopefully, by Christmas we will be able to sing the Hawaiian service music once again.
Please plan your calendars to attend One ‘Ohana next Sunday, the Third Sunday of Advent. The topic will be Marriage. The speaker for the adults will be Fr. Marvin Samiano from Honolulu.
Peace in Christ,
