The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
Consider the last time you gave a gift to someone you love very much. Of course, you wanted your gift to be the most beautiful, the most generous, and the most expressive of your love for the person. Your gift, you hoped, would enhance the life of the recipient in a significant way so that it would be used over and over.
That doesn’t really begin to express the gift that Jesus left to us in His own Body and Blood. Sometimes, we have to use analogies we can relate to in order to understand the mysteries of our Faith. He wanted to be with us always both as Church and as individuals. He remains with us in the Eucharist to support us, to strengthen us and to teach us to live as He taught us through the Gospel. Today, we celebrate the feast of His gift to us – the Body and Blood of Christ or Corpus Christi.
On Tuesday, we will send Father John off to his new mission. Again we thank him for his presence among us. I am sure that for a long time, we will tell stories about his experiences and repeat many Fr. Johnisms like his “monster English.” In August, Father John will visit his family in Columbia before he begins his new assignment.
We will have a visiting priest from the diocese of Monterey, California coming to help us for the summer. Please make him feel welcome. Father Juan Pablo will concentrate his effort on working with the Hispanic Community.
The bids for the building are in. Next week, we should be able to announce to everyone the name of the general contractor we have selected.
Peace in Christ,![]()
