You have probably heard some “buzz” about the Future of St. Michael’s. We are launching Phase 2 of our Capital Campaign as the parish begins to raise the 2 million dollars we still need for construction of the church buildings. You will certainly hear more as we move forward, but it is a reality. If we want a church, it will call for everyone sacrificing something in order to help “our cause.” Even after raising the 2 million dollars, we will still have to borrow money from the Diocese. When something exciting is about to happen in our lives, we certainly want a stake in it.
There seems to be some misunderstanding that money contributed outside of or beyond a pledge still has to be sent to the Diocese in Honolulu. Except for those checks which are written to HCCF and sent directly to Honolulu, ALL checks, cash, credit card donations, etc., that are earmarked for St. Michael’s Building Fund, stay right here at St. Michael’s. If you use your monthly envelope marked Building Fund it will be deposited directly into our Building Fund.
Asking for money is one of the most challenging things a pastor has to do. Knowing how much we all want that church, however, makes it so much easier. Listen to that “buzz.” Pray about what you think you can do to help. I am available to talk to you about it. Let us work as a team and get this done for the Future of St. Michael’s.
