Please save the evening Friday, August 27, 2010. St. Michael’s will host an evening of celebration for the entire West Hawaii Vicariate. You are all invited to attend, along with parishioners from Annunciation—Waimea; Our Lady of Lourdes—Honoka’a; Sacred Heart—Hawi; and St. Benedict’s/St. John’s. The event will be held at the Old Airport Pavilion in Kona.
Dinner will be served between 5pm and 6pm. St. Michael’s Parish is handling the meal. All you need to bring is your appetite.
At 6pm, Bishop Larry will give the Invocation and the With Grateful Hearts Concert will begin. The entertainers will be the priests, sisters, and brothers of the Diocese of Honolulu. Even Bishop Larry sings. The purpose of the Concert is twofold: to entertain, and to encourage new vocations to the priesthood and religious life from our Diocese.
During an intermission in the Concert, Bishop Larry will present awards for service in ministry to individuals from each parish who have been selected by the Pastoral Councils or their Pastor to be honored. These individuals are Living Treasures of the West Hawaii Vicariate. The Concert will continue after the Living Treasures are honored.
We will be giving you a written invitation in your bulletin this weekend and asking you for a response. Because of seating arrangements and meal preparation, we need a head count. This is not a walk-in affair! We will not need names of people who will attend, just the number of people coming. Each parish will submit this information to us at St. Michael’s. The evening will be over some time near 9pm.
Sol Ilagan is handling lodging for all the priests and sisters who will participate in the Concert. We are in need of families who are willing to offer hospitality to one or more priests or nuns on Friday evening, August 27th after the Concert. On Saturday morning, your guests will need a ride to the airport for their scheduled flights. The flights vary. If you can provide accommodations, please call Sol in the parish office.
