Among other things in this week’s Gospel, Luke gives us an important message about prayer. Prayer, as the foundation of our spiritual lives, does not require that we be in Church or any particular place to connect with the Lord. Following the example of Jesus, as His disciples learned, we can pray always and everywhere. Prayer becomes a part of the rhythm of life.
As part of our One ‘Ohana Faith Formation Program, we sponsored our first Vacation Bible School last week. I am grateful to the families who sent their children, to the teen helpers, and to the adult volunteers and staff who made it all happen. The response from everyone was overwhelming. This year, we had 30 children which makes me look forward more than ever to the time when we will have our new Parish Center. At that point, we will be able to accommodate twice as many children (click here for photos).
For the next two weeks, I will accompany Bishop Silva to Colombia. Please pray that our trip will be successful and that we will find good priests who want to come to Hawaii to minister to the growing number of Hispanic people in our islands.
The Diocesan Building and Planning Committee has approved our plans for the new Church. The submission of the SMA (Special Management Area permit) to the County is in process.
Have a happy and blessed week!
Peace in Christ,
Fr. Lio
