The Good Samaritan
Today’s Gospel is very significant for us as Christians. Luke is the only Gospel writer who tells us the parable of the Good Samaritan. It is the story of mercy and compassion to someone who is suffering and in need. The wonderful lesson in this story is the one who helped was the least likely to have stopped to offer assistance. There is no great challenge in showing compassion for those whom we like and admire. The question for reflection is: what do we do for the stranger, or the person we don’t care for, or the one against whom we harbor a grudge? If we truly know the Jesus of the Gospels, we know the answer.
As days of summer slip by, our building plans continue to move through the agencies that must grant approval. With the Kailua Village Business Improvement District (KVBID) approval behind us, we are awaiting Diocesan approval. During the next week, requests will also begin to be submitted to the County. We have all learned the value of patience in trying to reach our goal to rebuild our Church.
July 1st began a new fiscal year. Goals were established for 2010-2011 as a part of our Pastoral Plan. A brochure is presently being printed and I will share our goals with you as soon as the printing is complete. The goals of each parish support the Bishop’s Road Map.
Have a happy and blessed week!
Peace in Christ,
Fr. Lio
