Confirmation is a rite of initiation normally by laying on of hands and/or anointing for the purpose of bestowing the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.
This week eleven of our parishioners are preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday, May 2nd, to be administered by our Diocesan Vicar General, Very Rev. Marc Alexander. This is a wonderful occasion for our faith community. I would ask you to join the Confirmandi, their Sponsors and parents to celebrate with them at the 4pm Mass next week. Many of you, I am sure, can recall the day when you were Confirmed.
Following the 4pm Mass, 30 members of the Hispanic Community will also be Confirmed during the 6pm Hispanic Mass.
Our nine neophytes who were baptized at the Easter Vigil continue the final period of Christian initiation. This part of the process is called mystagogy, or a deepening of their immersion into the Sacraments of Initiation. They will continue this every Sunday after the 9am Mass until Pentecost Sunday.
Thanks to the organizers, sponsors, players, and onlookers who supported our first annual Golf Tournament on a recent Saturday at the Kona Country Club. The top three winning teams of the Tournament are: 1st Place—Duane Bullard and Mike Losby; 2nd Place—Tyler Dickson and Darren Hayashi; and 3rd Place—Ron Nelson and Tom Crosswhite. A special thanks to Lito Ilagan and Peter Callahan who organized the event. Joann & Chuck Ahlswede, AnnMarie Mura-moto, and Scott Unger solicited very nice prizes. Not only was it fun for everyone, it was a very successful fundraiser. The Tournament netted over $4,500 for our Building Fund.
Don’t forget the Easter Feast Day today over at Hale Halawai. The Knights of Columbus are sponsoring this annual event for families from 10am to 2pm. There are all kinds of games and fun things for kids; food is available for sale. Have a blessed week. —Fr. Lio
