The economic crisis in the United States has affected many people right here in our own State and our town. People we know have been left without the security of a job or without the security of health care. Retirement funds have dwindled because people have had to resort to using them to pay rent and mortgage. For the 37 million Americans who have been living in poverty, these kinds of securities have always been out of reach but struggles have gone beyond the point where food is even becoming a luxury.
For 40 years, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) has helped the poor fight for affordable housing, fair wages, and access to health care. Now CCHD needs our help more than ever to help lift people up and out of poverty. Families are struggling. Our faith is calling us to help. On Nov. 21st, we will take up the annual CCHD collection. Please use the envelope provided (weekend of Nov. 14-15) and be generous.
